This is by far the best book you will find on the medieval warriors of Japan. Most books just focus on the samurai, because this is what most Western readers associate with Japanese historybut this book also includes information of the foot soldiers, ninjas and warrior monks, giving an all round view of all the important players in Japan’s medieval time. The book is full of fantastic illustrations, photos and of course written information that is historically accurate according to respected sources. The author, Stephen Turnbull has written many books on the samurais, but I would rate this as his best effort at showing the overall picture of all the warriors that existed.
